Hiii!! I’m Maddi Hannum, a junior in pc’ 20 working towards my Bachelor of the Arts studying public relations and event management. I am from a suburb outside of Philadelphia and graduated from Radnor High School in 2019.
When I transferred to UofSC, I decided I wanted to get really involved and take advantage of organizations on and off campus. When I joined Alpha Chi, I saw how involved and motivated the other sisters were; and that just inspired me more.
Last spring semester, I took an internship with Amber Watson Weddings, receiving over 400 hours of hands-on experience. I was then hired by Amber Watson as her assistant and continue to work for her today. Last summer, I took on the role of Assistant Event Coordinator for Columbia Fashion Week, where I worked to plan all the amazing and fun events as an essential part of the team. Currently, I serve as the director of public relations on UofSC Fashion Board and absolutely love it! I started as an appointed position my sophomore year, helping with social media, and hope to continue to grow and learn within my positions in the club.
One of my favorite parts of fashion board is our annual spring fashion show. Our executive team and members work all year to recruit retailers and vendors, host model calls, plan a student showcase, stylist competitions and more! This year we have some amazing vendors both students and not. Some of my favorites are CRSD Clothes, shop Lila b, and Superthrifty.
Another amazing thing about fashion board is that anyone can get involved! We have over 250 members, since we have no major requirement, you have the opportunity to meet and bond with so many people that I never would have met if it wasn’t for fashion board.
On top of Fashion Board, I’m so excited to be co-hosting Alpha Male, one of Alpha Chi’s biggest philanthropy events, to raise money for Domestic Violence Awareness and Sistercare.
